Plan a 4th of July Fiesta

Plan an all-American fiesta — er, party — (hey, half the country’s hispanic now anyway, right?) with these delicious recipes, all yuppie gourmet twists on American favorites!

For cocktail hour, make some patriotic Washington Appletinis to honor our first president…good ol’ American apple pie…and one of the colors on our flag. Just mix one part Apple Schnapps/Pucker, one part whiskey (try Jim Beam Red Stag for an extra fruity touch), and one part cranberry juice.

Have some beer-only’s in the crowd? Offer them a special twist on their usual drink by serving Seadog Blue Paw Blueberry Wheat Ale with blueberries and strawberries at the bottom. Manly men may not go for it but it’s worth a shot! (Hmm..not a bad idea…a shot beforehand so they’ll cooperate?)

For dinner, try Jamie Oliver’s high-quality burger sliders recipe. Spice things up by adding some salsa, guacamole and pepperjack cheese on top!

For dessert, make healthy Firecracker Popsicles by pureeing strawberries and blueberries separately, adding some agave or honey to taste, then swirling them together with some plain yogurt in popsicle molds and freezing…Red, white and blue, and delicious too!

For props, of course you need some sparklers and an American flag, but  you can also class things up with a bouquet of red roses, blue bells and baby’s breath.

Happy independence day, yuppies!
